Cedar, painted finish
“Frame had been slowly rotting for three years. Ramon was here Wednesday, sorted by Thursday afternoon. Painted to match the others perfectly.” — Owner
Pergola roofs flapping after the storm. Deck boards rotted through. Gates that have stopped shutting properly. Window frames going soft. The carpentry work between a handyman and a full builder. Quoted from a photo, scheduled within the week. Licenced and Insured Canberra carpenter, five-year workmanship warranty.
A handyman can hang a picture. For anything load-bearing, anything timber, anything that’s going to be there for the next twenty years, you want a licensed carpenter. The eight categories below cover most of what we get called for. Day-to-fortnight site time, typically one to ten thousand dollars depending on scope, with a five-year workmanship warranty on every job.
Sticking doors planed back to swing properly. Hinges replaced. Solid timber doors fitted, including pivot doors and weather strips. Door frames repaired where the rebate has gone.
Rotten or split boards pulled out and matched to the existing timber. Full deck sand, structural check, and oil finish. Joists and bearers patched where the rot has gone deeper than the surface.
Damaged Colorbond, polycarbonate, or shadecloth replaced. Structural posts and beams repaired where the storm has cracked them. Flashing redone so it doesn’t leak again next winter.
Sagging gates lifted back into shape, frames re-squared, hinges replaced. Custom gates and fence panels built to match the existing run, in timber or Colorbond slat.
Water-damaged, termite-eaten, or kicked-in trim replaced. Profiles matched to the original. Painted to match the existing wall.
Rotten or warped timber window frames patched or replaced. Sills rebuilt. Stained or painted to match. Re-glazing on request.
Loose, cracked, or worn timber stair treads pulled and replaced. Internal stairs, external decking stairs, and verandah landings. Stringers patched where needed.
Subfloor patches, rotted joist or bearer replacement, lintels, wall-frame sections. Quoted after we’ve seen exactly what’s behind the plaster.

Fixed price, line items spelled out. If we find something during the job, work stops, you see a photo, and the variation gets signed off in writing before another nail goes in.

Most jobs run from one thousand to ten thousand dollars and from a day to a fortnight on site. Pergola repairs, deck board replacement, gate and window repairs, termite damage, structural fixes, custom joinery. For anything under a day’s work, we ask you to bundle a couple of repairs together so the visit is worth it for both sides. Anything over a few weeks is usually a full extension or new build, which we don’t actively advertise but can quote if it comes up.
A handyman can hang a picture. A licensed carpenter can do structural work and stand behind it with a real warranty. For a sticking door, the price is similar. For anything load-bearing (joists, lintels, framing), only the licensed carpenter can legally do it and have your home insurance honour the work. We’re an Licenced and Insured with $20M public liability and a five-year workmanship warranty on every carpentry job.
Replacing a few rotten boards in a section is typically one to two days, usually one to three thousand dollars. A full deck restoration (sand, board replacement, structural check, oil) runs two to five days and three to seven thousand depending on the size of the deck. We quote in writing after a free site visit. For straightforward photo-quotable jobs, text us a photo and we’ll send a ballpark the same afternoon.
For straightforward repairs (a damaged board, a sticking door, a broken hinge), text or WhatsApp a photo to Ramon on 0448 464 599 and you’ll have a ballpark price the same afternoon. For anything structural we visit free first so the quote is the price.
